Choosing a kitchen layout
L-shaped kitchens suit most corner kitchens and leave room to move. U-shaped layouts give the most counter and storage where the room is wide enough. Parallel (galley) kitchens work well in long, narrow rooms. Island kitchens need an open plan with space on all sides. At the site visit we measure the room and suggest the layouts that fit.
Materials and finishes
The cabinet body is usually plywood; BWP (boiling-water-proof) plywood is the safer choice near the sink and in humid kitchens. Shutters can be laminate, acrylic or PU paint, each with a different look, upkeep and cost. Hardware — hinges, drawer channels and baskets — is available from brands such as Hettich and Hafele; we go through the options with you.
Planning for Indian cooking
We plan space for a chimney and hob, tall units for provisions, and drawers for heavy vessels. We also check where the water purifier, refrigerator and other appliances will go, so electrical points are in the right place before the units are made.
